“Gli agricoltori stavano lavorando nella risaia quando questa pesante roccia è caduta dal cielo con un rumore molto forte“, ha detto a AFP Shirsat Kapil Ashok, il magistrato del distretto di Madhubani nello stato del Bihar.
Quando il fumo si è placato, gli abitanti del villaggio sono tornati sul posto per tirar fuori la roccia dal suo cratere profondo quattro piedi (circa 1.2 metri). “Abbiamo visto che ha proprietà magnetiche molto forti, un po’ di brillantezza e pesa circa 15 chilogrammi“, ha aggiunto Ashok.

Authorities reported that a soccer ball-sized meteorite fell into a rice paddy in eastern India, scaring off farmers. Spectators said they fled the camp when the object fell into their rural village. “The farmers were working in the paddy field when this heavy rock fell from the sky with a very loud noise,” Shirsat Kapil Ashok, the magistrate of the Madhubani district in the state of Bihar, told AFP. When the smoke subsided, the villagers returned to the site to pull the rock out of its four-foot-deep crater (about 1.2 meters). “We have seen that it has very strong magnetic properties, a little brilliance and weighs about 15 kilograms,” Ashok added. The discovery is analyzed by scholars who think it may be a meteorite.
